Welcome to another edition of Joe shares some photos and writes a little bit about them!
I had the honor and privilege (which I think is how I preface any time I talk about a shoot?) of shooting the band Chvrches recently at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago.
If you don’t know this band, then I know what you’re probably thinking:
That’s not how you spell “Churches”
The song is called “Take Me to Church.”
You photographed the chart-topping Irish rock act “Hozier”
Two of these are facts in the right context!
That said I did, thankfully, photograph the band Chvrches and not anyone from the Hozier camp.
I’m always excited to shoot a show of a band that I know and love because every time I’ve done so I’ve gotten to stay and watch the rest of the show amongst the non-photo-pass having crowd. That wasn’t the case at this show, however.
While being escorted to the photo pit area where we’d get to shoot the first three songs, security informed us that after that we had to leave the venue unless we had tickets.
For a brief moment I was like…dang! BUT then I realized why. I won't delve into it here, but if you aren’t aware just google “Chvrches and Chris Brown.”
Spoilers: What you’ll find are several fresh, pipin’ hot new reasons to be completely infuriated at humanity.
The heightened security at the show is completely understandable given the circumstances.
Anyway! I had a great time and here are some photos!
